Take Your Scary Movie Marathon To the Next Level With These 3 Tips!

This Halloween, Turn Your TV Room Into a Comfy Home Theater!

There’s hardly a better way to get into the spirit of Halloween than to cozy up on the couch and watch some good (or deliciously bad) horror movies – it’s a long-standing tradition for those who love the season but are too old to trick-or-treat. That’s why it’s so important to do it right, to get the full experience. And that means getting comfy, having the best snacks on hand, and settling in for the ride. So to make sure the experience is as fun, frightening, and fantastic as possible, here are a few tips and suggestions for the perfect spooky movie marathon.

Pick the Flicksmovie

Of course, the first thing to do is select a great lineup of movies. Luckily, there’s no shortage of freaky films to choose from! There are classics like The Shining, Poltergeist, and The Exorcist, or old-school greats like Frankenstein, Psycho, and The Night of the Living Dead. Some newer favorites include The Conjuring series, The Purge franchise, and the IT films.

Then there are the more comedic titles like Young Frankenstein, Shaun of the Dead, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. For more family-friendly fare, there’s Casper, Hocus Pocus, and the Hotel Transylvania series. Or, when in doubt, it’s hard to go wrong with the long-running franchises like Friday the 13th, A Nightmare On Elm Street, and – of course – Halloween.

Stock Up On Snacks and Supplies

Once the list of movies is set, it’s time to focus on the other essential part of a great movie marathon – the snacks. Sure, popcorn is the ultimate movie snack. Still, there are plenty of other options that fit the spirit of the season – candy corn, Halloween-themed cookies, bagel pizzas made to look like eyeballs, spooky cocktails or mocktails… anything goes, as long as it doesn’t distract from what’s on the screen!

Then, the atmosphere needs to be just right. Lighting some candles or hanging up some orange string lights will create a nice ambiance. The couch will need soft blankets for hiding under and comfy pillows to squeeze for dear life in those moments of pure fright.

Make Sure the Heater Is Workingheater

Finally, the movie experience won’t be near as fun if the furnace is on the fritz and the house is freezing. Being in warm, comfy PJs and cozying up in a cocoon of blankets may be great for the mood, but it shouldn’t be the only weapon against the chilly autumn night outside.

It’s generally recommended that heater maintenance be performed every year at the beginning of fall. But if it hasn’t been done by the time colder weather starts creeping in, the homeowners may be in for a trick rather than a treat – many heater issues arise in the middle of autumn as a direct result of insufficient maintenance. So to make sure the house feels safe and cozy for this year’s epic fright-fest, it’s best to schedule a furnace inspection and service visit – before it’s too late!
